6th Annual Golden Paint Can Awards - What do you think so far?

Everything I have posted on this page is going to happen. It has come from comments/complaints from the previous year, as well as from sheer necessity since the Vizu polls no longer exist. Anyway, the new award categories should ensure that even if a site does not have a lot of active members, it can still win an award...and without having to be in a Top 10 list. This way, more sites can enter and more sites can win. Any ideas that come up between now and October 1, when the nominations close, will be considered and used. I like the breakdown of the Judge's Choice award into categories. It gives more sites a chance to be recognized.

It gives more sites a chance to be recognized."I love this idea it gives wikis more chance not to let baby wikis fall and let huge wikis like wcc2 and ect win again also Phillip I was think their should be a category for the past winners and say we called it the Legend Award 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think this is neat! Just a question though, will you restrict the awards so that if a site wins, say, the Popular Choice Award then it can't win anything else, or will sites be able to win more than one section of the award?And also, I agree with Naruto87, with just a slight modification of mine, might I suggest that we do add a Legends Awards section (or something similar) but maybe for sites that have won in the past for several times, say at least 3 times. Do you find this valuable? |

Good question, but the answer is no.As I have stated, the community, now Popular vote, is no no greater or lesser than the other awards. The one rule I am keeping is that wikis may still NOT be nominated for more than one category, unless they are also an Emerging Wiki. And, I am still fielding any suggestions. Keep in mind that even when the nominations open, I will still be accepting new ideas/suggestions until October 1, 2013 when the nominations end. Do you find this valuable? |

Also, the one problem I can see with the Legends category is that quite a few of the past winners, Twisted Fury Pack, for example, either no longer exist or they are no longer as active.

Also, "past winners" meaning last years, or more years back? And I agree with what CaptainSpaz said about many of the past winners not existing anymore. I think it's best to let the past be the past.
